PRESS RELEASE: CTU established an Advisory Panel to the DSA and convened its first meeting
Prague, 16 April 2025 - The Czech Telecommunications Office, designated as the digital services coordinator (DSC) in the Czech Republic, has established an Advisory Panel for issues related to the DSA Regulation to support the fulfilment of the DSC's mission. The Advisory Panel is an expert platform that will provide CTU with expert insight and consultation for the effective performance of supervisory activities in the digital intermediary services market in the Czech Republic. The Advisory Panel is composed of representatives of the public administration, academia and business sectors as well as representatives of user organisations. The Advisory Panel is chaired by the Chairman of the CTU Council, who shall also manage its activities.
The Advisory Panel is a professional platform that will provide CTU with expert support and consultation for the effective performance of its supervisory activities on the market of intermediary services in the Czech Republic. Its establishment contributes to the fulfilment of the objectives of the DSA Regulation - to ensure the proper functioning of the single market, to maintain a safe online environment and to protect the fundamental rights of users, including children.
The first meeting of the panel took place on 16 April 2025. Agenda of the initial meeting included mutual introductions of the members of the panel, presentation of the CTU´s planned activities and discussion on these, especially on the issue of assessment of criteria for granting certification under Articles 21, 22 and 40 of the DSA Regulation, measures to protect minors online and the implementation of age verification system. Systemic risks related to electoral processes were also discussed.
